Shielding Awareness Course

Over 65 people were at this two day course which took place in Warrington last week and was organised in conjunction with The Shielding Forum. We would like to say thank you to everyone that attended including the speaker, delegates and exhibitors; HTSL Group and JCS Nuclear Solutions. This course was aimed at those who are new to the topic but may also be useful as a basic refresher for more experienced professionals. Speakers were from the nuclear and non-nuclear industries and the medical sector, the course aimed to cover shielding in different sectors. The programme included: basic principles of shielding assessment, source term generation, attenuation and build-up, hand calculations, computational methods, shielding design process, interface between RPAs and shielding assessors and relevant legislation. These topics were backed up with examples from different sectors.
