This webinar will look at the National Arrangements for Incidents Involving Radiation and will be presented by Darren Bungay (UKHSA).  Darren is the NAIR coordinator within UKHSA, this entails maintaining a database of responding organisations across the UK, providing training courses for responders on monitoring and source retrieval all on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

In 1991 he started at National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) in Medical Dosimetry, assessing doses to patients undergoing routine x-ray and CT examinations.

In 1993, he moved into Radiation Metrology Group where he became a Qualified Person (QP) and Ionising Radiation Protection Instrumentation Specialist (IRIS). Undertook audits of nuclear site delicensing applications and assessment of public doses from direct shine, both on behalf of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).

In 2024, he joined the Radiation Emergency Response Group where he led on Radiation Monitoring Units, a facility that is set up for mass monitoring and decontamination of the public during a radiation incident.

He also assess' nuclear facility site emergency plans to assess the need for urgent public health arrangements in readiness for radiological incidents.

In conjunction with the Fire and Rescue Service, he is working on the deployment and training in the use of Detection, Identification and Monitoring kits (DIM) to UK oversea Territories.
